This suite of courses are squarely aimed at the computer novice, with the intention of removing the fear caused by being unfamiliar with the personal computer and its various software products.

 Day 1 (Introduction)

The attendees are taken through the basic functions of a PC in an understandable and jargon free manner, allowing them to understand what is meant by terms like hardware, software and the many other aspects of computing. By the end of day all attendees are able to understand and navigate the windows environment ready to become productive.

Day 2 (Word Processing, Database and Mail merge)

The aim of today is to show where the attendees can use both word processing and database to perform a simple mail merge, with the intention of producing a mail merge with the personal touch. The day is a “hands on” day and gives plenty of opportunity to re-enforce the skills gained on day one.

Day 3 (Spreadsheets and graphic manipulation)

Day three covers the basics of spreadsheets, starting with a simple example, which is then graphed, leading on to producing a full cash flow projection spreadsheet while discussing the business requirements of such a sheet. The day is another “hands on” day that also re-enforces the skills learned previously. Also covered is the method of scanning images and manipulating or correcting them with a photo re-touch programme.

Day 4 (Networking, Internet, Email Etc)

The final day of the course is a discussion of connecting computers together, starting with the explanation of a simple LAN, progressing through WAN, FTP and on to email and the internet.
